    SketchBubble – About

We all know how important presentations are for Professionals from all domains. After spending hours on the presentation design, still, the outcome is not that appealing to many professionals. (Even the founders of SketchBubble faced the same issue when they were creating an investor presentation for one of their earlier businesses).

Using SketchBubble’s pre-designed presentation templates, professionals can easily create compelling presentations in minutes. It has one of the largest libraries of presentation templates for all possible categories. All its templates are entirely customizable, very easy to edit, and available in 2 colour themes. SketchBubble recently started animated PowerPoint templates as well.

The platform provides pre-designed instantly downloadable presentation templates which are compatible with Microsoft PowerPoint, Apple Keynote, and Google Slides. Professionals find it very cumbersome to design engaging presentations (whether it is for educational purposes or pitching an investor or explaining a concept to staff). All of its templates are 100% customizable and users can easily edit without any designing knowledge. It’s like downloading, editing, plug, and play. SketchBubble’s visually appealing and easy-to-use templates save a lot of time for its users. They can focus on the delivery of the presentations and leave the design part to the platform.

    SketchBubble – Industry Details

SketchBubble’s target audience is every professional either a project manager, business executive, startup founder, educator or someone working in a position where there is a need to explain/present some core concepts, financial data, an investor pitch, a company’s values, educational concepts, an onboarding or business plan, etc.

Presentations have always played an important role in business, but in the next few years, Mr. Ashish Arora (Co-founder, SketchBubble) sees a great scope in the field of educational presentations, as well as online, which has come to the forefront during this COVID-19 crisis. Presentations can make online learning engaging and fun with the help of creative visuals.

    SketchBubble – Startup Story

“This idea of starting a presentation templates marketplace ignited in our minds when we were designing a presentation to pitch potential investors for one of our products (mobile monitoring software). Since we were good at technology but not at designing, they were not satisfied with their own PowerPoint presentation. Ultimately, they spent $500 to hire a professional designer. Thus, this led to the creation of their startup that began with 50 PowerPoint templates in 2014; and now has over 10,000 templates with 150000+ slides!” – says Ashish Arora (Co-founder, SketchBubble).

    SketchBubble – Mission and Vision

SketchBubble’s Vision – Saving the valuable time and effort of presenters by providing them with professionally-designed, innovative, and pre-made presentations in line with the knowledge level, interests, and experiences of the audience.

SketchBubble’s Mission – To embrace the power of words and engaging visuals in all the products to help all professionals deliver impactful presentations and make a lasting impression, keeping pace with the latest visual communication and design trends.

Though SketchBubble was launched in 2014, its parent company InfoShore is providing IT services since 2008.

InfoShore and SketchBubble are co-founded by Ashish Arora (Head of Product & Design), Rohit Khariwal (Head of Technology), and Pankaj Narang (Head of Social Media Marketing). They all completed their graduation from NIT Jaipur in the year 2005.

When the idea of starting a business of professionally designed presentation templates was conceptualized, the founders wanted to connect the domain name with graphics (not just slides and presentations so that in the future, they can add more types of templates like MS Word, MS Excel, Website templates, etc.). Thus, the journey of SketchBubble started.

SketchBubble – Business and Revenue Model

SketchBubble has a subscription billing model. Customers can choose Monthly, Quarterly, or Yearly plans which can be cancelled at any time. It also offers 1 Day access plan to users who want to give it a try with a smaller amount. SketchBubble’s 1 Day access plan costs $14.95 and other plans start from $49.95.

SketchBubble – Launch & Marketing Strategies

When the product was developed, the platform received social media and startup story coverage on some popular platforms. From the very first day, the team at SketchBubble worked on Content Marketing, which eventually resulted in a good Google ranking.

“So getting initial customers was not that hard for us; we focused on quality so that we get repeat customers and by the time that paid off well” – Ashish added.

Unlike its competitors, SketchBubble not only worked on the quality of its products, but it kept launching a lot of new templates each week. The team worked on multiple colour themes, and a variety of designs, and provided the same template not only for Microsoft PowerPoint but also for other popular platforms like Google Slides and Apple Keynote.

SketchBubble’s founders always believe in a customer-centric approach. They give priority to customer requirements. Even if they provide pre-designed templates and do not officially provide customized presentations, whenever a customer requires custom slides, the team is always there to help them and provide their required presentations within 48 hours. As compelling presentation designs are the core of its business, the team keeps improving the designs on a regular basis so as to match the market trends.

When SketchBubble started Email Marketing – 1 Free Slide every week to its free product subscribers. This resulted in many converts within 3-4 months as users started to see the value of the products offered.

While it is not possible and convenient to go for formal offline education at all stages of one’s career, online technical education can do a lot to keep one up-to-date with new technologies, without giving up the current job.

Codevidhya – About & How It Works?

Codevidhya is an EdTech company highly inspired by technology to facilitate technical education besides contemporary learning. The company is dedicated to explore new future of young minds through integrating the learning with creativity, sharing and collaboration. They develop the concepts to help understand the future needs and to make complex learning easy with effective tools and techniques.

“We believe in the future that would be written by code. In fact, the ability to code could be the ‘Next level of Literacy’.” – Shiv Ram Choudhary, founder of Codevidhya.

As an EdTech startup, Codevidhya follows the ‘Learn by Doing’ approach. Adhering to this philosophy, the company integrates such tools in their platforms and practices that leverage students’ learning and knowledge. The startup has ambitious plans underway to expand to more schools and has already partnered with 50 schools catering to 20,000 students.

Mr Shivram Choudhary in a classroom

Codevidhya differentiates itself by offering a futuristic Computer Science curriculum that empowers the future generation. Students are encouraged to find out real problems of the real world and solve it with the help of technology.

    Codevidhya – Target Market Size

“We consider ourselves to be in the Online(Platform) + Offline (Text Book) market both. Currently there is no player in the Indian industry who is offering this approach for coding.”, says Shiv Ram.

As such, the startup consider the entire Indian education industry from Grade 1 to Grade 10 as their market, the size of which is upwards of 250 million. Since this is a new market that is being created, they are yet to identify the potential of it, however the startup has seen a 100% YOY growth in terms of student acquisition for the past 2 years.

Codevidhya – How It All Started?

Codevidhya was built around the idea that in India we have around 45% of the population under age 24, yet there is a big unemployment pool. Initially, Shiv Ram, founder of Codevidhya, had a discussion with several experts and each one of them had their own views. When he collated those thoughts and did differential analysis he came to one conclusion that we are not adequately skilled. Finding the solution to this issue was itself a problem as the education system in India is still archaic.

When the founder visited Canada to attend a seminar with Robin Sharma, he met this young kid Tanmay Bakshi. He had a discussion with him for more than one hour and it was an enlightenment for Shiv Ram. Then & there, Codevidhya as an idea was incepted, that the problem is in the core. If we shape our children from the grassroot level then in future they will have a skill.

As Shiv Ram says, “Right now everyone is thinking in a reactive way, I thought why reactive and let’s be proactive and catch them young and shape their future. There is a drawback in this thinking that the results of your efforts will come after 10-15 years, but yes we are ready to take that risk, as it is a noble cause as well as we are addressing the issue from very basic, making things foundational.”

Shiv Ram came back to India and discussed with his in-house tech people (people in his school) and met Rajesh, who along with a team of four developers gave basic shape to the idea. Basic concept or say mission and vision of Codevidhya is to Enable Students to Create; using Technology leading to Entrepreneurship and become Global Powerhouse of Skill Development for tomorrow’s world.

    How was TallyDekho Started

The idea and inspiration came from small businesses, where they don’t have a full-time accountant. The founders took insight from the fact that accounting is the heart of any business and they needed to create something to bring it in the control of business owners.

As we know, Tally ERP is offline, and already has a big market as of today. So they discussed this problem with a few business owners and chartered accountants and then developed a prototype and did a small market test.

The initial idea was to create an application for tally reports and GST return/airway bills etc. But when they stepped into the market, they realized that this product can solve a serious problem and can benefit businesses in various aspects but it was important to keep the application lean and clean. Since every piece of information is not required, it took them time to understand the volume of need. Because overburdened information kills the real idea.

The founding team discussed the idea with their business friends, chartered accountants, and few accounts professionals. However, it was not accepted by all at once and it took effort to make people understand.

Initially they could not understand the importance. But when we explained how you can make decisions on expenses, how you can save late fees to departments. And it has lot of value. Then they had ore ideas on importance of this solution – Ashish says

The idea behind the name “TallyDekho” is the fact that people see their reports on mobile. The team always wanted Hindi touch to the name as the product was mainly designed for small and medium businesses. Hence they decided the name to be ‘TallyDekho’.

When they thought about the tagline and discussed it with the team, everyone suggested that it is related to the account so they can use ‘Hisaab-Kitaab’. Another one said the data can be seen on fingertips so ‘Ungliyon’ word can be used and finally they came up with “Hisaab Ungliyon Pe“.

Also, they came up with one more tagline while discussing the introductory video, as they are accessing the accounting data with security so the tagline becomes ‘Ab karein Hisaab, Data ki Suraksha ke sath‘.

    TallyDekho – User Acquisition

With their experience with other ventures, they knew that a good product only needs word of mouth marketing. And they did the exactly that. In just 2 hours of campaign 500+ chartered accounts and 200 businesses signed up with them.

TallyDekho – Business Model and Revenue Model

The  is subscription based. They are looking at somewhere between INR 999 to 1499 per user for an annual subscription. They also have re-seller margins since they are the front face of the product so they are considered equal partners.

    TallyDekho – Startup Challenges

Requirement gathering was a problem since every business is unique in its nature of work. It was a difficult task for them to understand common problems from all businesses and deliver them a standard product.

    TallyDekho – Funding and Investors

In 2019, TallyDekho raised an undisclosed amount of seed funding from Mr. Nirmal Bardiya, an investor from Jaipur.

    How was Catalyst Group Started

All of it started when Akhand was in his college days and started his preparation for the UPSC examinations. But he didn’t have good study material and he couldn’t afford to go to other metro cities due to the hefty fee amount the coaching institutes charged. So he had to study on his own which was quite time-consuming.

After that, when Akhand started teaching, he had to travel to different faraway cities for institutes to deliver the lectures. And that time he felt the need to have a mechanism through which he could teach lakhs of students at a given time. All these experiences led him to the idea of having a Catalyst Platform that connects teachers with students directly.

Students, irrespective of where they are, can take lectures from teachers who are teaching in a different part of the country. Akhand’s idea was to bridge this geographical and monetary gap between the students and the teachers.

And that’s how he launched The Catalyst Group where the idea was to be able to provide high-quality education at an affordable cost to many. Initially, when they launched through YouTube (catalyst group YouTube), they had roughly 100 students and in the short span of only two and a half years, they are having around 2 lakh students learning on the platform.

“Catalyst means something that accelerates the process and here we are doing the same thing by connecting teachers with students,” says this genius entrepreneur.

The Catalyst Group is accelerating the careers and process of learning for students. And so the logo is rocket-shaped that is about to launch!

    RentRoomi – Founder

Nitin Sharma is the Founder and CEO of RentRoomi. An engineer by qualification, Nitin worked in a software development company as a project planning and business developer prior to starting RentRoomi.

    How was RentRoomi Started

“The idea of cohabitation isn’t a new one”.

Nitin got the idea for RentRoomi from his father. Nitin’s father had moved to Rajasthan in the eighties. At that time he was earning just a meager salary of INR 740. He had a family to look after and could not spend much on house rent. Nitin’s father then decided to share a room with another family, thereby halving the cost and expenses. Nitin realized the benefit in incorporating the same concept into his business model. He saw how people today make a lot of money but are equally saddled by the high cost of living and believed that he could make it easier for the youth to find a good living space at an affordable rent.

Again, as an engineering student residing in a college hostel, Nitin recognized the importance of finding the right roommate.

Recalling his hostel days Nitin said,  “From the one that bullies, to the one who leaves his dirty socks under your bed, from a kleptomaniac to a self-proclaimed ‘bhakt’, in college and then work life, I encountered numerous types of roommates. Though some became friends for life, others were a disastrous experience, which left me disgruntled. After swallowing this bitter pill and learning from my ordeal, I decided to build a platform catering to those who wanted to share a flat or a room, and looking for the right ‘roomi’.”

With help from some of his friends, Nitin started RentRoomi in 2016. When the company started off, roping in flat owners and vendors was a challenging task.

“While initially, it meant expending a lot of energy in convincing, it became an easier task when the owners realized that they stood to benefit as well,” says Nitin.

    What is RentRoomi

India’s biggest tech-enabled marketplace for affordable housing. RentRoomi makes it easier for the youth and millennial moving out of their hometowns to find rented space in the new city. Through the platform, one can find whole properties for rent and can find roommates and room seekers to share a room with.

One can search for rooms or flats based on price, locality and the amenities available. Besides, the platform provides the opportunity to know about the fellow roommates before selecting a room or apartment. Thus it facilitates finding like minded roommates with whom one can share the living costs, utility bills, etc.

    RentRoomi logo

Also, the platform lets house owners list their properties with details about price and amenities.

RentRoomi follows the ‘3C approach’ i.e. Comfortable plug and play homes, Convenience driven by tech and Community living experience to offer more value to the customers.

RentRoomi’s target audience constitutes more than 40-50% of the population: the heavily tech-dependent youth, who believe in optimal usage of resources, students, and job seekers who worry about finding the right roommate.

The tagline of the company is “We make Community”

    RentRoomi – Revenue Model

As said by Nitin, RentRoomi’s core website will always be free for listing properties and for looking for occupancy in already occupied apartments.

Early revenue streams proven highly scalable, RentRoomi’s revenue model is directly related to move-ins. If booked, RentRoomi collects a fee between 1-10%. Also provides value-added services like background checks, ID verifications, rental furniture, and roommate agreements are included if booked online and otherwise available to purchase separately in future.

    RentRoomi – Competitors

There are many classified websites that let users find or list a property for rent. RentRoomi is different from other classified websites because it offers the user the opportunity to not just choose a room but also preferred roommates.

“As it acknowledges the competition in the online renting space from established market leaders, we at RentRoomi are optimistic of its growth. Metro cities are attracting single working and educational class youth in the prospect of a better life and this has created a huge demand for rentals. Though existing players are offering rental properties, they are lacking a personal touch. This gap is bridged by RentRoomi, which helps you to foresee and decide the person you will be sharing your room with” says Nitin.

The target audience of RentRoomi is the tech freaks, who believe in using sources to the best of their capacity. Students, job seekers who get worried and tired of finding a roommate for them can easily use this platform.

    RentRoomi – Awards

RentRoomi has received many national and international Awards. Few of those are-

    1. Ranked under 100 start-up to showcase their brand in start-up turkey fest. (Istanbul)
    2. Ranked under top 30 by pitch city organized by Headstart.in
    3. India’s rising platform to provide the safest and fastest solution for shared accommodation and roommates by Entrepreneur Media
    4. Founder Nominated as Forbes Under 30 fellow 2018

    RentRoomi – Growth

RentRoomi is India’s fastest growing flexible accommodation provider for both corporate and end customers. The company has-

    • Providing accommodation to 1000+ corporate
    • 25000+ rental properties listed in the platform
    • It has 4000+ agents.
    • Providing accommodation to 4000+ SMEs
    • Shared housing marketplace with 14x growth in 2018 and  200K+ users
    • Over 85K+ apartments listed as of Sept 2018
    • Has more than 5x listings for 1+ month sublets in Bengaluru and Hyderabad compared to compared to any other platform.

Apartment rents in big cities are high, as are the security deposits; and then there are the furnishing costs too. So residents choose to go through with co-living. Nowadays rental market offers decent space to establish a disruptive concept like co-living.
