Tips to Good Ad Layout of Newspaper Advertising

    • Grab the Reader’s Attention – Newspaper advertisements are easy to miss if the ads don’t stand out. Normally readers look at the current news and events; in this, if you grab the reader’s attention with the ad, there is a higher chance that the readers will respond.
    • Focus on Flow – An effective ad layout must flow together. Most readers skip the body of the advertisement if their eyes do not flow automatically to the title. Factors that affect this are the amount of whitespace, the size and location of the logo, and the placement of the copy.  Following points keep in mind:

The largest part of the advertisement is a picture that must be 60% to 70% of the ads space.

People read from top to bottom and left to right so you must place the body copy below the main picture which is 15% of the ads space.

In the bottom right corner of the page, you should place the company logo which is 5% of the page.

    • Choose Simple, Readable Fonts – The fonts you choose are central to your design and layout. Never use fonts that are difficult to read; instead, choose ones that are easily picked up but by the eye.
    • Keep Font Sizes Consistent- Be consistent. Instead of using large fonts within your text, use it for your call to action or your title. Random large words have impact on readers and it will be visually distracting.
    • Minimalist Designs – One more important tip is that when creating your newspaper ad is to choose a minimalist design. Don’t let your ad will look too crowded or busy if possible make use of the white space where you can.
    • Color Schemes- Color have the effectiveness of the ad. Too many colors make the ad messy and disorganized. Find that color which will be well suitable.
    • Choose the Flat Look- When developing the ad avoid the 3-D effects, too many shadows. These type of ads are popular before 10 years ago. Now days flat ads are more impactful to the readers.
    • Pay Attention to Alignment- If the ad is aligned well it will look more superior and professional compared to those around it. Since a newspaper is aligned with columns, pictures, titles, horizontal and vertical spacing, and picture aspect ratios, your ad should follow this system.
    • Manage Free Space with Care- White space is important to making the ad more crisp and well arranged but too much empty space create a problem. Large holes and more spaces makes the ad unprofessional. The white space should be in such way it stands out and looks fresh and elegant.

The attendees don’t have to pay much (if anything) to attend these online meetings, and they make excellent business sense for them, too.

In a webinar you have the time to allow your attendees to get to know you as a person, like you and trust you from the insights and content you share.

Few Tips To Help Your Webinars Stand Out

    • Keep them between 30-45 minutes long:
Not many viewers want to stick around for an hour to listen to you talk. In fact, recent studies show that 41% of attendees prefer webinars of 30 minutes, and 44% of attendees prefer those up to 45 minutes long.
    • Research your attendees:
The eventual goal of your webinar is to generate leads and make them purchase your product or services. Thus, you need to know what type of audience is attending your webinar. Before you host the webinar, it’s decidedly useful to conduct thorough research on the type of people that are attending, their demographics, professional domain and expertise, and industries they belong to. It helps you get a brief idea about what your audience is expecting from you.
    • Morning is the best time to hold one – Attendees prefer webinars held at 10 or 11 am
    • Leverage Analytics:
It is essential to leverage analytics to understand what kind of message your audience is most responsive to.
Not only this, there are plenty of analytics tools like Google Analytics and Facebook Insights that can provide you with a far more detailed, customized, and personalized breakdown of traffic on your webinar concerning a variety of parameters. With analytics, you get data specific to your business that is aimed at maximizing the potential of your webinars.
    • Always hold a Q&A at the end – 92% of webinar attendees want a live question and answer session at the end of a webinar
    • Wondering how many attendees is a good number? The average number is 148.
    • Announce webinar beforehand:
You should also plan to announce your webinars numerous times before launch, including via emails, social media, and other teasers. Making a short promotional video and uploading it on to your social media sites, Reddit, or YouTube accounts can also bring in large numbers of attendees.
    • Well timed promotions:
The time and day of the webinar are not the only significant influences on attendance. The date of the announcement of the webinar is another essential factor in the registration rate. The 2017 Webinar Benchmarks Report found out that 25% of registrations occur on the day of the webinar, whereas 23% of registration occurs more than two weeks before.

    Conclusion

All things considered, webinars are one of the most cost-effective elements of any SaaS marketing strategy. Webinars are great for any SaaS business because you either have to show off your software or train your customers to use the platform (or both!) in a scalable way. By conducting your presentation in a thoughtful and engaging manner – and sticking to some of the best practices I’ve discussed – you will find that the rest of your marketing objectives may be easier to achieve too.

Indian App makers want an alternatives to Google Play

When Google had recently accounted that it would enforce its 30% fee for apps, the Indian app developers and entrepreneurs to demand for a national app store alternatives to google play. Google play store then pushed back the 30% commission in India until March 31, 2022. The tech giant says that the delay has been so the Indian developers have enough time to implement the UPI for subscription option that will be made available on Google play.

When asked about the issue Vishwas Patel, The Chairman of Payments Council of India and a member of IAMAI said that, “Just because Google owns the gate and the gateway to the digital ecosystem of this country they should not act arbitrarily and enforce their rules and regulation that are contrary to our country laws”.

Google stand in courts is that is does not need RBI authorization as it is not a payment system operator but now it is mandatory that Indian apps use only Google proprietary billing and payments systems. “Google should not exercise its dominant position rather allow a level playing field for everyone” he added.

The Indian developers plan to lobby the government and come up with an alternative to Google. The business channel ET now also reported that the government is planning to ramp up its Mobile Seva app store, which has mostly catered to MSMEs, to act as an alternative to Google and Apple platform. On twitter, Razorpay founder Harshil Mathur added that, India needs a local app store long-term, as it will otherwise eat up most businesses and asked if anyone trying to build one.

On 29thSeptember google said that, “Play distributed apps must use Google Play billing and as the method of payment if they require or accept payment for access to features or services, including any app functionality, digital content or goods. This applies only to apps and has been purportedly done to prevent revenue leakages to Google Play from January 2021.”

The government is reportedly planning to make the Mobile Seva app store mandatory on all smartphones. Paytm recently listed on the store, which mostly has Government apps. In the absence of any legal means, the government will have its work cut out for making a viable alternative to Google and Apple, experts said.

    The Lean Startup

The Lean Startup approach fosters companies that are both more capital efficient and that leverage human creativity more effectively. Inspired by lessons from lean manufacturing, it relies on “validated learning,” rapid scientific experimentation, as well as a number of counter-intuitive practices that shorten product development cycles, measure actual progress without resorting to vanity metrics, and learn what customers really want. It enables a company to shift directions with agility, altering plans inch by inch, minute by minute.

Rather than wasting time creating elaborate business plans, The Lean Startup offers entrepreneurs—in companies of all sizes—a way to test their vision continuously, to adapt and adjust before it’s too late. The book provides a scientific approach to creating and managing successful startups in a age when companies need to innovate more than ever.

    Start Small, Stay Small

    – by Rob Walling

    Start Small, Stay Small
    Start Small, Stay Small

Start Small, Stay Small is a step-by-step guide to launching a self-funded startup. This book intentionally avoids topics restricted to venture-backed startups such as: honing your investment pitch, securing funding, and figuring out how to use the piles of cash investors keep placing in your lap.

    This book assumes:

    • You don’t have $6M of investor funds sitting in your bank account.
    • You’re not going to relocate to the handful of startup hubs in the world.
    • You’re not going to work 70 hour weeks for low pay with the hope of someday making millions from stock options.
    • There’s nothing wrong with pursuing venture funding and attempting to grow fast like Amazon, Google, Twitter, and Facebook. It just so happened that most people are not in a place to do this.

Start Small, Stay Small also focuses on the single most important element of a startup that most developers avoid: marketing. There are many great resources for learning how to write code, organize source control, or connect to a database. This book does not cover the technical aspects developers already know or can learn elsewhere. It focuses on finding your idea, testing it before you build, and getting it into the hands of your customers.

    Conclusion

I hope that this list provides enough books to keep you busy for a while – and to help transform your business. Give them a try and understand how it changes your startup. Also, give us suggestions of books that you read and can benefit others in the comments section.

  • How to Engage Your Audience with Presentations Layouts?

“Every new thing creates two new questions and two new opportunities” – Jeff Bezos.

The same analogy applies when giving professional presentations.

Imagine presenting a text-heavy 50 slides to a group of uninterested people. Half of them are yawning while the other half is waiting desperately for you to leave.

    Heart-breaking, isn’t it?

After burning the midnight oil, your efforts land in a trash can.

While this is not surprising, retaining your audience’s attention is considered a daunting task. According to a study, humans listen at an efficiency rate of 25% or less. We remember only 10% of what we hear after 72-hours. This makes life complicated for people giving business presentations.

If your presentations are text-heavy, lack visual, uninteresting, and non-interactive, your audience will lose their interest sooner or later.

That’s why you need presentation layouts to engage your audience.

From getting new business to engaging your audience, a professional layout answers all your presentation misery, and will help boost your business plan.

Easy Ways to Engage Your Audience with Presentations Layouts!

With attention span reduced to eight seconds from 12 seconds in 2000, engaging your audience is an uphill battle. Using presentation templates and layouts, you can create stellar slides to keep the audience interested.

    Follow the rule of three

What does 9-1-1, ‘start-middle-end of storytelling, and presentations have in common?

Presenting ideas and stories in threes creates the most memorable experience, and it’s a concept widely used since the time of Aristotle. People remember only three things from your presentation. Why do you want to throw 25 or 30 odd things at them? The longer your key points’  list, the more complex and confusing it is for your listeners.

Even Steve Jobs used the rule of three in his presentation to describe iPad2. He described iPad2 using three adjectives’ thinner, lighter, and faster’. These three words successfully conveyed the meaning.

When it comes to presentation, divide it into three sections. Use a three-part presentation layout to organize and deliver content.

Tip: Use the list of three to sell your ideas to investors and engage your audience. In the figure below, notice how a presentation slide sends across a message without making the slide text-heavy.

    Follow the 10-20-30 rule

If you don’t want to fall into the bucket of presenting terrible pitches, follow the 10-20-30 rule while creating a presentation. When Guy Kawasaki first coined the term, little did he know that it would be impactful after so many years? According to the rule, a presentation should:

    • Have only ten slides
    • Take 20 minutes to present
    • Use thirty points for the font

Does this sound overwhelming? When you present using this rule, you understand the genius behind the system.

    Why only ten slides?

According to Kawasaki, listeners cannot understand and retain more than ten concepts at a time. The ten pointers you select depend on the pitch for your business, but ideally, it should identify a problem, give a solution, and describe ways of achieving it.

What’s it about the 20 minutes marathon?

Studies have found that adults pay attention for 15-20 minutes at a time during a lecture. Secondly, during a 50-minute lecture, most adults cannot retain or recollect information shared with them recently. As a result, Kawasaki concluded that the ideal length of presentation should be 20 minutes or lesser.

What’s so special about the 30 point font?

As a listener, how often do you pay attention to slides using 11 or 12-point text?

Such slides are often overlooked due to their small font size. It also fails to stir visual stimuli. So, it makes sense to use a 30 point font. Apart from visually attracting your audience, it lets you find the most salient features for your presentation.

Tip: Never torture your audience with persuasive presentations; instead, give them something they’ll enjoy reading and listening to. The 10/20/30 rule could become a bible for presentations.

    Use images with faces

We, humans, are trained to be amazingly good at seeing faces. According to a study, a human face instills trust, and customers like brands using faces in their brand visuals. But, why does your audience resonate with images having faces?

    • The pattern recognition machinery in our brain efficiently extracts a face from a clutter.
    • It helps to form a human connection with your audience.
    • People remember a face more than names.

This is why a presentation layout with faces will get your desired attention.

Tip: Faces help frame the text, especially if the face is looking in the right direction. Our eyes tend to drift in the direction of where the human figure is looking.

For example, use the picture below and enter your text on the right side. The human face drifts attention to where the eyes and finger are pointing. Any text or message you enter in that area is likely to garner attention.

Use a lot of white space

“The music is not in the notes, but the silence between them” – Claude Debussy.
This line rings true even for presentations. Like music, a presentation requires a lot of empty (white) space to absorb any content. One of the most significant mistakes while delivering presentations is cramming your slides with too much text.

This is why top brands use an image with a single line of text in their ad campaigns. If you’re looking to master your next presentation, include a lot of white spaces because:

    • It makes a slide easier to read
    • It helps draw the attention of your audience
    • Funnels critical messages to your target audience
    • Helps prioritize information

For example, to showcase their finest product range, Tinker uses an image purposely covering an entire page and uses many white spaces with a little text. Due to the white spaces, the message stands out. You can replicate the same web design and layout concept in your presentation.

A cluttered presentation is similar to a cluttered desk. You can never locate what you want on time. Therefore, it’s imperative to use white spaces in your presentation to simplify the design and send across a message to your audience.

Tip: White space is the de-facto design standard in presentation, and by overlooking it, you’re missing a plethora of opportunities.

    Conclusion

From TEDx talks to Steve Jobs, you cannot ignore the power of presentation. It’s one of the leading ways to connect with your audience, change their perception and sell products.

A winning presentation is neither difficult nor expensive. It’s just clear, concise, and delivers your message.

So, the next time anyone asks you to create a presentation, pop your soda can, uncork it, and tell them you’re ready with a presentation. A presentation layout is an effective and inexpensive method of creating stellar presentations.

To engage your audience, create functional yet attractive slides, minimize content usage, pick pictures with many whitespaces, use human faces, and ensure there’s always a contrast between the text and background. A yellow color text doesn’t look appealing on a white background. But, a brown color indeed does.

Furthermore, when laying out presentation elements, focus on the rule of third and the 10-20-30 rule.

Congratulations! You’re ready to create a top-of-the-class presentation!

  • Why should You Have VIP Membership Program in Business?

You must have seen many companies which give you an option to buy their “premium memberships”. However, every company calls it with another name for their VIP plans like “Amazon Prime”, “Zomato Gold”, etc. These are customer loyalty programs that reward customers and encourage them to bear additional purchases. There is a series of reasons to do that. Such customer loyalty cards increase sales without compromising marketing budget. Here is why you should provide membership perks.

According to some report success rate of selling existing customer is 60-70% but at the same time, the success rate of selling new customer is 5-20%. Hence, you should focus more on your existing customers to generate higher profit with low cost marketing. In this post, we are going to reveal them all and help you decide whether you should also have VIP memberships or not and how to create A VIP Program for your small business.

8 Reasons Why You Should Provide VIP Memberships
    Should You Provide VIP Membership?

8 Reasons why You should Provide Loyalty Rewards

    Make Them Feel special

When people buy VIP membership in your service, they feel special. It is because, of course, you will provide some special service to your VIP members. If you have a restaurant, you can provide free home delivery, special booking, special treatment, etc. to your VIP customers. It will make them feel different and special.

    Permanent Customer

When people will feel special, they will end up becoming your permanent customers. Also, if they have a VIP membership, they will come to you, at least till they have their VIP membership is valid. Moreover, if you can initiate the automatic renewal of their membership, it will be great for your business. I hate Amazon Prime but I still don’t quit it’s membership because I think Rs. 120/month is not a big deal and I don’t have to pay manually its fully automated system.

    Reward System

    best loyalty programs
    Reward System

You can provide a reward system in your VIP membership. You can give them points on buying something particular or discount on bringing another VIP member. Furthermore, you can test your new service or product by providing points to the VIP members on using it. You can ask for their reviews and make changes accordingly. Moreover, provide points on a particular number of purchases, it will increase your sales.

    Increase User Base

As people will share their code and bring you more people to get rewards, you will acquire more customers. It will eventually increase your sales. However, please don’t overdo it if you don’t have enough funds. Customer loyalty program ideas help a lot in building your customer base.

    VIP Cards

    vip program
    VIP CARD

If you provide customer loyalty cards to your VIP members, it will be great for marketing. Most of the humans are social animals, and they like to show off. Most of your VIP members will show their VIP cards off to others. It will be great for your marketing. Also, when your VIP member will see their VIP card, it will remind them about your service. They are more likely to come to you if they see something related to you again and again.

    Customer Loyalty

I’m not buying Netflix’s subscription only because I already have Prime’s. Even though I know Netflix is much better and I hate Prime, I use Prime. It is because, somewhere in my subconscious mind, I have become loyal to it. I don’t want to hassle again to register and buying some other service.

In one or the other way, Prime has made me a loyal customer. Just like me, other people will become your loyal customer and will think a lot before going to another service. And after thinking a lot, if they are lazy like me, they will end up compromising. Unless you give a terrible service, they will be your loyal customers.

    Exclusive Sales

You can provide exclusive access to your new product to your VIP members. It will make them feel more special as only they will have that product. Also, you don’t have to worry about the stock. It will be out if your customers are loyal enough. However, analyze your customers first and provide a good exclusive product or service.

If you have a restaurant and exclusively selling a new phone, it will be disastrous, because people come to you for food. Or if your exclusive product is out of fashion as if you are exclusively selling a feature phone or even an old-style smartphone (with bezels), no one’s gonna buy it.

    Should You Provide VIP Membership?

    loyalty rewards
    Membership Tier

Although VIP membership is great to have in your business, it depends on the nature of your business. If you have a car showroom, there is no point in giving VIP memberships because people don’t buy cars every day or every month. Whereas, if you have a grocery store, you can provide VIP membership with services like free home delivery and that the customer can give you their grocery list so that they don’t have to waste their time in choosing their stuff, etc. This was just an example. Create your ideas and use them in your VIP memberships.

Risks and Rewards of an Invite-only Marketing Strategy
You must have heard of popular marketing strategy called “invite-only”. In this, new users can join your website only when they are invited by any current userson the site. It can be very risky as you are launching and not letting everyoneuse your product. Because you bet on people that they will …

    Conclusion

However, I don’t have to repeat the points of importance but VIP membership work. Your customers cannot go to your competitors until their VIP membership get invalid. Please check your service’s nature if it is compatible with VIP membership or not. Also, you can even lose your other “non-VIP” members if you give stupid service in your VIP membership. Think a lot and then decide on every aspect of your business.
Consider it your baby, because it is. Your business is not just your effort, many people, directly or indirectly helped you a lot. So take every step carefully.
