XR Central – The Idea and Startup Story

Before XR Central the founder ran one of India’s largest platforms for gaming content, Gaming Central. The highly organic and sophisticated participation of the gaming community coupled with the constant output of the gaming industry made us ask ourselves a question: can gaming be used to solve real world problems? And that was the seed which has led Anshul and Shrey to conceptualise, develop and implement their DIY metaverse builder MetaQube.

They ideated and designed with a small team of passionate individuals which is growing every day, and they continue to iterate and innovate even now to ensure that their product reaches a level of quality which puts it far above its competitors.

XR Central – Products and Services

XRC is an XR (AR, VR, MR & WebGL) based interactive tech studio based out of Gurgaon and is founded and led by experienced industry experts Anshul Agarwal and Shrey Mishra.

XRC has been delivering a wide range of interactive and immersive XR solutions that have helped brands elevate customer experiences and brand recall. They specialize in metaverse creation for a diverse array of industries, as well as creating interactive design content using immersive technologies such as virtual and augmented reality (MR, VR and AR).

They are currently developing their flagship product, a powerful, game-engine-based metaverse builder called MetaQube. They provide B2B services and a forthcoming B2C product is in the final stages of development. They have worked with partners like Infosys, HCL, etc. to bring experience centres and immersive experiences to life, and are currently working with a diverse portfolio – from e-sport fan zones to building complex 3D models for training purposes in specialised fields.

Most of these experiences are run on MetaQube, which will be their B2C product. MetaQube will be a no-code world builder, where you can build a digital environment for your friends and family or at scale for thousands of people in a matter of minutes.

    XR Central – Challenges Faced

The biggest challenge for them was educating the target audience and educating stakeholders about the possibility of XR. As the age of Web 3.0 arrives, XR technology is seen as the new frontier for experiencing content of all kinds.

But exposure to new technology in enterprise and wider consumer settings is very limited, and explaining and providing PoC, collating ideas, iterating and reiterating, and defining the full scope is a lengthy process which requires repeated starts and stops.

They overcame these challenges by creating their own PoCs and developing material to educate people on these new technologies. This is how they have gained the confidence of leading brands.

Modern office design means the structure of a workplace according to the needs of current times and practices. A worker spends almost half of the day in their office. To make it interesting and worthwhile, offices need to look cool and must feel a little homier and not like a jail. This way, the employees will feel comfortable and will be more productive.

    Flexible Office Spaces

The dynamic spaces trend began to expand by introducing people to the idea of multi-functional workspaces. The distinguishing feature of flexible office space is that it is nonrestrictive. Flexible office spaces allow employees to work in different areas of the office instead of being stuck at their desks or cubicles all day long. These spaces included indoor-outdoor access via garage doors, movable green dividers, television and video equipment, and step-style seating, to name a few.

How the Event Industry Is Adapting COVID-19 Period?

Advanced technology is playing a crucial role in the event industry sector. Modern hours require unmatched solutions, and here are a few ways in which the event industry is driving home the new normal.

    Virtual Events

The multiple technological disruptions have facilitated the seamless online conduction of events, seminars, conferences, meetings, and gatherings involving a considerable number of participants. There are several platforms used for hosting such activities, which offer features such as-live as well as pre-recorded content, simultaneous running of varied breakout sessions, space for sponsors to showcase their products and services to others. Moreover, the ability to access the information later, even though the event is over serves to be a great joy for the audience. Additionally, the user interface of these events is so influential that it renders the viewer with a realistic experience.

    Increased Personalisation

On being asked, many individuals stated that they could not enjoy to the fullest as they felt disconnected by the overpopulation of the venue.
The events which are being organized in the corona times successfully overcome all these flaws by providing consumers the opportunity to enjoy the show from the comfort of their homes. Also, multiple examples are noted where the artists accepted the requests made by the viewers.

    Global Presence

Eventually, the most significant change that the new normal brought is the re-establishment of the world as a global village. Virtual events are a sigh of relief as they emerge winners against geographical barriers. As a result of this shift, individuals across the world can experience the performance of their favorite artists.

    Modern Advertising Techniques

The current times have noted the rise of advertising methods that are greatly consumer-centric, dynamic, and pleasant. With consumers being bound to homes, their usage of social media has increased. In this trend, various organizations are resorting to their online platforms to generate awareness, drive traffic, promote upcoming virtual events with enhancing viewer participation.

    Improved Physical Experiences

With the event industry knocking at the door of a complete restart and the absence of a vaccine, organizers oblige to pay maximum attention to customer safety. People are forced to see a rise in terms of hygiene, be it at the venue or in terms of the deliveries happening for these events. In the post-pandemic, only those will succeed who can make their audience feel safe. This can be achieved through active communication channels and enabling the customers with a choice of easy cancellation of bookings.

    Conclusion

The event industry suffered a big blow because of the Coronavirus Pandemic. Although, with the new normal being established and the situation coming back to its previous form, with time it will surely increase its growth in the country like it has been doing all these years.

  • List of Top Quantum Computing Startups In The World

The concept of Quantum computing is gaining a great amount of importance in today’s time. It is approximated that it will take days for a supercomputer to solve a complicated problem that a quantum computer can do in a few seconds.

The idea of quantum computing is still quite new to many as it is in its budding phase. But, leading companies like Amazon, Microsoft, and IBM are taking the help of quantum computing to deal with their massive and complex problems.

With the increasing importance and demand of quantum computing, many startups have emerged which do research and development and provide solutions to many complex problems. Startups like IonQ, ColdQuanta, and many more are making their mark in this budding industry of quantum computing.

    What is Quantum Computing?

In simple words, it means making use of quantum mechanics to establish modern ways of computing. Quantum computing is made with qubits (quantum bit- the basic unit of quantum information). Qubit is a two-state quantum-mechanical system.

A basic computer bit can be 0 or 1, but a qubit can be one of these as well as a special position of both 0 and 1. This makes the computing better by controlling the atomic particles which allows them to be present in more than one state (0 and 1 at the same time).

There are two basic characteristics of quantum physics. These are entanglement and superposition. Quantum computers are based on these two characteristics. This helps them to solve complicated problems much faster than regular computers.

Quantum computing is very useful in the fields like finance, the military, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and more.

  • Upskilling for Women in the Technology Sector in an Era of AI

The article is contributed by Minal Sonawane – Software Test Solution Architect, AFour Technologies.

As businesses build back after the disruptions of the pandemic, there is considerable interest in transforming work structures to be more robust and more dynamic than they were before. Precisely, businesses are endeavoring to build more equitable workplaces for women, who have historically been excluded from advancing as much as their male peers. As AI enters and alters business processes in myriad ways, upskilling will emerge as a crucial tool in addressing gender inequality in the tech space. Here, we briefly examine how this can come about.

    Gender Disparity in Tech

Research consistently shows that diverse teams perform better, have higher satisfaction rates, and stay on longer. And yet, industries like manufacturing or IT remain heavily male-dominated. According to a joint study by LinkedIn and the World Economic Forum, women make up only 25% of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) workforce. Moreover, only 22% of artificial intelligence (AI) professionals and 12% of machine-learning (ML) experts are women. Even if they have the same qualifications, men frequently reach executive positions faster than women in the workplace. Many companies also hesitate to help women earn senior tech positions because of preconceived notions about their skills or assumptions about marriage and family coming first for women.

These issues were exacerbated when Covid-19 struck, and everyone was forced to stay at home. As primary caregivers, the duty of looking after children during the lockdown fell mainly on women, many of whom had to deal with burnout owing to the difficulty of balancing work commitments with family obligations. In particular, a 2021 Women@Work study by Deloitte revealed that 83% of women in tech had an increase in workload along with household duties, while only 38% felt that their organization had given them adequate support. Overall, a recent Citigroup study concluded that about 44 million people would lose their jobs due to the pandemic, of which 31 million would be women – a highly concerning disparity.

With the advent of AI into everyday business tasks, the respective roles of humans and machines are undergoing significant shifts. Routine tasks are being delegated to software, while advanced skills like machine learning and deep learning are highly demanded. Partly because of the educational gaps between the genders (traditionally, boys are encouraged to take up science while girls are pushed towards the arts and domestic studies) and partly because of male-centric preferences at work, it is women who mostly hold the administrative, clerical and routine job positions that are now being routed to AI. Moreover, there are no clear pathways to help women transition from these routine jobs and towards more complex and lucrative ones related to tech and its applications. As a result, they either end up quitting the workforce or staying on in low-paying jobs that do not let them reach their potential.

    Upskilling as an Equalizer

Online learning has expanded considerably since the pandemic, which means that accessing high-quality educational content and insight from experts is easier than ever. Upskilling through online courses allows employees to stay up-to-date on rapidly evolving tech trends and pick up valuable new skills from scratch. For women employees, upskilling safeguards them against redundancy and helps them become more valuable assets in terms of the ideas and creative approaches they can bring to the table. In particular, online learning allows them to pick up skills at their own pace and at affordable rates, which is a boon for women juggling household duties and/or those in less lucrative jobs. This way, they can aim for positions that men have traditionally occupied and come into their own as creative contributors.

Upskilling, indeed, makes employees of all genders more effective and for an emerging and nuanced field like AI, one needs as many talented team members as possible. It is thus in the company’s interest to offer AI-related upskilling opportunities, from online learning pathways to live projects to shadowing opportunities with senior experts. In particular, leaders should invest in training programmes for women in tech with special technical courses and mentorship from senior women leaders. There should also be exceptional support for women compelled to take time off during the pandemic so that dedicated workers can feel like they are valued regardless of their setbacks.

    The Way Forward

It is still early days in the “AI-fication” of industries, and effective intervention on a company’s part can go a long way toward reversing gender disparity trends. Comprehensive upskilling opportunities and career transition pathways can help women pick up the skills they may have been traditionally denied and contribute side-by-side with male peers. Companies have already seen the efficacy of flexible work models and should invest in similarly inflexible growth models that help employees – especially women – move upwards into tech roles where talent and interest count for more than background or work history. Thoughtful efforts in this regard will help redress gender disparity and exclusion at work, not just post-pandemic but for all time.
